Due to the COVID-19 pandemic the End of Key Stage 1, Early Years Foundation Stage and Phonics Screening Check for 2020 were all cancelled by the Department for Education (DfE). As a result of the cancellation of all the statutory assessments in 2020 no assessment data was undertaken or collected, and therefore no data analysis can be shared or reported for 2020. There are no analysed reports that outlines key data, pupil outcomes and attainment for 2020 in EYFS, Phonics and End of Key Stage 1.
Cancellation of the Phonics Screening Check in June 2020 meant incoming Year 2 pupils did not take the check in Year 1. In the 2020/21 academic year only, it was statutory for schools to administer a past version of the Phonics Screening Check to Year 2 pupils during the second half of the 2020 Autumn Term. The current Year 2 cohort have undertaken the Phonics Screening Check and 84% of children achieved the required standard in Phonics.
As a result of COVID-19 and the further National Lockdown in January 2021 the government have announced that all statutory assessments for the End of KS1, EYFS and Phonics Screening Check for 2021 will also be cancelled.
