On the Friday before half term we were lucky enough to welcome the children's author Farhana Islam to our school. It was a really exciting opportunity to meet a real author and came about due to our wonderful Reading River homework. Farhana spoke to Year 1 and 2 about how she became a writer and why she wanted to write stories. We found out that Farhana writes about things that are important to her, like in her story of 'Not Now Noor' where she writes about family, curious children and the Hijab. Farhana read us the story and we really enjoyed it. We were able to ask lots of our own questions. Farhana then signed the books that some of the children had bought and they were able to take them home to share with their families. It was a wonderful afternoon and a big thank you to Farhana who has certainly inspired our children!
