Our Governors
The purpose of governance is to provide confident and strong strategic leadership which leads to robust accountability, oversight and assurance for educational and financial performance. DfE Governance Handbook 2020
The Governing Body of William Austin Infant School meets as a full Governing Body and in committees with delegated powers to deliver the three core functions:
• Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
• Holding executive leaders to account for the educational performance of the organisation and its pupils, and the performance management of staff.
• Overseeing the financial performance of the organisation and making sure its money is well spent.
The DfE Governance Handbook states:
Effective governance is based on six key features:
The first two features are the core pillars of the board’s role and purpose.
The second two are about the way in which governance is organised.
The last two are about ensuring and improving the quality of governance.
At our school our Governing Body meet regularly throughout the year and individual governors have specific Link governor responsibilities associated with different areas of the school.
Governor’s Welcome
Message from Chair of Governors
Welcome to William Austin Infants! This is a great school and I encourage you to look over the website. You will see that we care deeply about the children and are working very hard to give them a good start. Actually, I said you should look over the website but I will go further and encourage you to visit the school itself. You will get a warm welcome, meet a dedicated staff, and see a lovely group of children … and it’s the children that make William Austin what it is.
Stan Boelman, Chair of Governors
