We have been proud to take part in two big fundraising campaigns for Keech Hospice Care in recent years. In 2021 we raised £1761 for the Big Trunk Trail, and designed and painted a baby elephant sculpture that we named Hope! And in the Spring of 2024 we were lucky enough to join the Short Tail Trail and raised £1250, the Year 1 children took the lead on this campaign and created 'Sunshine', our beautiful baby hare sculpture!
Both Hope and Sunshine are on display in school now, and we are so proud of them both, and the children and staff that were involved in their creation!
Designed by Hanniya in Beech Class, and painted by all of the children in Year 1, we are sure you will all agree that Sunshine is indeed a very fine hare, and we are so proud of the Year 1 children, and Mrs Ali & the Year 1 staff who worked so hard to bring Hanniya’s wonderful vision to life!
The painting of Sunshine was just a part of Year 1’s topic on Animals in the Summer term; the children also enjoyed a trip to Whipsnade Zoo, and made some fabulous animal print pencil cases too!
After spending the Summer at Stockwood Discovery Centre as part of the Short Tail Trail, along with other hares and tortoises at various sites across the town, Sunshine has now returned home to our school to join Hope, our Elephant sculpture from the Big Trunk Trail back in 2021!
