Year R

Weekly Update from the Year R Team

Week beg 13th July

Dear Parents and Children of Year R,

So, that’s Year R done!!! What a weird academic year it has been!!!! We have enjoyed having some of the children back in school for the last few weeks of term but have also missed having the rest of you in school and it just hasn’t been the same without you. We look forward to seeing you all in September and can’t wait to see your smiley faces when you turn up at your new classrooms in September. All the teachers will be at your new classroom doors to greet you and then there will be familiar faces in your new classroom for the first couple of weeks to help you settle into Year 1 too. We have had another great week at school changing the story The Three Billy Goats Gruff. We have had The Three Ducks and The Three Strong Horses waddling and clip clopping over the bridge. We then had a wolf and a dragon under the bridge. How did you change your story at home? What new characters were in your story? We hope you had as much fun making up a new story at home as much as we did at school!!!

We have planned your last week’s work for you to complete at home and it is all about dinosaurs. We hope you have fun completing it and remember to show your grown-up all the work you have learnt over the year. Please remember to thank your grown-ups for helping you with your home learning. They have been amazing in supporting you throughout this all!!! Well done grown-ups!!!!

Throughout the summer holiday please keep practising your phonics in your green phonics books, so you can show your new Year 1 teacher how good you are at your phonics. Also keep reading books using the free website https://home.oxfordowl.co.uk/ .

We hope you have a fantastic summer holiday. Make sure you have a rest as you need to be ready to work hard when you return in September to your new Year 1 class. Both Year 1 and Year R staff are looking forward to seeing you in September. We are so sad that your first year at William Austin Infants has not been a full year and you have not had the opportunity to do everything we had planned for you but we have loved having you in Year R for the time you were with us, and hope you continue to shine for your Year 1 teachers like you shone for us!!!!

Keep smiling and take care of yourselves,

From All the Year R Staff
