The Big Trunk Trail

Say hello to Hope, our baby elephant sculpture!!

We are proud to be taking part in Keech Hospice Care's Big Trunk Trail!!  Since September 2020 we have focused our fundraising efforts in support of this fantastic local charity, and to date we have raised £1426!!

The Big Trunk Trail will see over 30 large and over 30 baby unique and vibrant elephant sculptures bring Luton’s landmarks to life from 10 July 2021 for 13 weeks with a public art event.  The unique, outdoor art trail is Keech Hospice Care’s way of saying thank you to their amazing community as they celebrate 30 years of care.

A herd of elephants is also known as a ‘memory’ and Keech Hospice Care hope The Big Trunk Trail will bring communities together to remember loved ones while creating fantastic new memories.  The Big Trunk Trail will offer a free, interactive, fun day out for families, friends and art lovers inspiring people to become tourists in their own town.

At the end of the event, the large sculptures will be auctioned to raise money for Keech Hospice Care so it can continue to provide its excellent care to adults and children with life-limiting and terminal illnesses.

Hope, our elephant, will come home to live at our school and will be a lasting memory of this special event!

Our Elephant in the Making!

Year 2 were given the important task of deciding how Hope should be decorated! The children were asked to create a design, and they produced such wonderful work, it was hard to choose!   But we do have a winning design… Marwaa’s beautiful design was inspired by the artist Kandinsky. We have chosen this design because the children thought that it looked like colourful bubbles. We have been working in our very special bubbles this year and this project has enabled us to collaborate and work together to create something beautiful even though safe in our own classes. It is bright and colourful and we hope that it will make other’s smile when they see it in July.

Well done to Marwaa, our runners up and all the wonderful designs children produced. We are proud of you all!!
