2013-2014 Archive

Within the year 2013-14 we aimed to use the Sports Premium funding to enter more competitions against other schools within Luton. We entered 4 competitions throughout the year which are detailed below.

February 2014

Gym Competition

6 children from year 2 visited SALTO gym in Sundon Park. The children had devised and practised a gym routine using a range of balances and gymnastics elements. The routine lasted one and a half minutes and was completed to the music of Fireworks by Katy Perry. They also completed the volt where children had to jump onto a bench, walk along and stretch jump off the bench at the end.

April 2014

Football Festival

8 children from year 2 went to Playfootball centre in Stopsley to take part in a Football Festival. They had the chance to learn new ball skills and practice them in mini games. The games were led by children from Stopsley High school as part of the assessment.

May 2014

Golf Competition

10 children from Year 1 and 2 went to Stockwood Park Golf Club to take part in golf activities. We had to aim at different targets to score points.

July 2014

10 Year 1 children went to a Tennis Festival at Vauxhall Tennis Club. The children took part in tennis activities competing in their teams. All the children had a great time and met children from other schools.

July 2014

Sports festival Year 1

6 children from each class in year 1 walked to Icknield High School to take part in different sporting activities. Each group was led by Year 9 children from Icknield High School. The children had lots of fun and they enjoyed working with the play leaders.

We aim to enter more inter school competitions during the year 2014-15 to enable the children to experience competitive sport with children from other schools in Luton.
