The school has a uniform which all children are encouraged to wear. It is designed to be practical and suitable for the age of the children, and to ensure equality with regard to school clothing. We request that children wear grey or black trousers, grey pinafore dresses, grey skirts and white polo shirt or shalwar (grey) Kameez (grey or white), a grey jumper, cardigan or school sweatshirt.
Footwear should be black shoes or black trainers with easy fastenings ie Velcro. No open toe or ‘slingback’ sandals or high heels are allowed as they can be dangerous. Ankle or knee high boots should not be worn indoors – children should bring suitable shoes to change into for indoors. It is essential that children wear underpants or knickers for school.
If a turban, skull-cap or topi (skull-cap like hat which covers more of the head) is worn, it should, where appropriate, be either black or grey. If a head covering (hijab) is worn it should be a ‘ready-made’ elasticated type which can be slipped on and off easily, and should be plain black, grey or white, and no longer than shoulder length. During the Summer Term children may wear blue and white dresses, or grey shorts.
Children need shorts/tracksuit bottoms, a T-shirt and plimsolls for P.E. lessons. Plimsolls are only worn for games. Luton Borough Council guidance is that children must have bare feet for gym and movement work. Tracksuit bottoms must have elasticated ankles. P.E. clothes should be kept in a draw-string bag and hung on the child’s coat peg. Parents or carers are requested to leave P.E. clothes in school, as classes go outside whenever possible, especially in the better weather.
