Road safety week
Modeshift STARS accreditation
Our school has received Bronze level STARS (Sustainable Travel Accreditation and Recognition for Schools) accreditation. Throughout the school year we will be highlighting the importance of safe and sustainable travel.
Road Safety Ambassadors
Road safety week took place the week beginning 20th November. Road safety ambassadors were nominated from each class in each year group. The ambassadors came up with key messages to be shared with children and parents. During lunch time the children worked hard to create Road safety leaflets. The children took back key messages to their own classes. Road safety lessons took place during the week. Each class was shown last year’s Road Safety video created by the ambassadors. Pedestrian training was carried out with the children in class. Year R children had Geoff the lollipop man visited to discuss what his job is and how he helps us. Children are developing an awareness of the Green Cross Code. Fantastic Learning Logs form Year R and Year 2 showed us what children had learnt during the week.
Be Bright, Be Seen day
On Friday we had a whole school non uniform day to encourage children to wear bright and reflective clothes as the days get darker quickly. Children who wore the brightest clothes were given prizes. Well done if you won a prize!
A road safety poster competition took place. Children had to design road safety posters. There were many entries from each year group. The ambassadors had a tough time choosing the best ones. Well done to all of the competition winners who received prizes. Their work can be seen on the school website.
A big thank you to all the parents who have signed up to our Road safety parent pledge. Please try adhere to these throughout the school year.
