Fun with Reading - The Papaya that Spoke

On a Monday morning in October Year 2 children arrived to see a basket of papayas. Next to the basket there was a talking speech bubble with a sign that said ‘press play’. Children bravely pressed the button and to their amazement the response was “hands off!”

The children this week have been learning the story called The Papaya that Spoke. Children tasted papayas in class. Most children had a taste and some were not very keen. In our English lessons Year 2 children will be continuing the story to predict what happens next.

In December Year 2 watched a fantastic show called Little Red Riding Hood when a theatre company visited our school.  The children enjoyed watching the show and were a great audience.

Year 2 Firemen visit

Year 2 children had a visit from the firemen. They watched a short video about fire safety, learned about what to do if there is a fire and the importance of having a fire alarm in the house. Children particularly enjoyed looking at the different tools in the fire engine and squirting water with the hoses.
