In Year 2 we have been learning all about materials and their properties. We have has also investigated how materials can change shape by applying different forces like bend, squash, stretch, and twist. The children investigated the suitability of materials and were given a challenge of making an umbrella using newspaper, a high-heeled shoe using cardboard and making a fork and knife using wool. All the children had great fun in applying the different forces to make the objects. At the end of the lesson the children were able to explain whether or not the materials were appropriate for the object made and why.
