On Wednesday 7 June Miss Moran, Miss Johnson and five Year 1 children attended a Children’s Values Conference held at Southfields Primary School. The conference was organised by the Values Network which is made up of a number of different schools within Luton, including William Austin Infant School. The Values Network aim to promote and develop the practise of teaching and living good values across Luton schools. It was a fantastic day and the children were able to work alongside other children and adults from across Luton.
They used a number of different values throughout the day to complete a wide range of different activities including unity, respect, tolerance, friendship, kindness and empathy.
We also had the privilege of working with Dr Neil Hawkes and his wife Jane who delivered an inspiring welcome assembly and mindfulness session which was a brilliant experience for the children and staff. Dr Hawkes is the founder of Values-based Education, a movement that promotes the universal, positive human values such as respect, trust and empathy.
The children from our school were great models of how we live our values each day. Hopefully we will arrange another conference for the next school year! Watch this space!
